VETNET Assembly
The annual meeting took place in Vienna at the University on Wednesday, 30 of September, 2009. 40 VETNETers discussed several programme making issues, here some of the key suggestions made:
1. The papers are sometimes to local, to specific to the discussion of the national educational system. It is important to illustrate the reference to the European context. This has to be strengthened for coming events.
2. If somehow possible, not more than three papers should be presented per session in order to leave good time for discussions and questions.
3. Furthermore, it should be considered that empirical and conceptional-theoretical will be presented.
4. The VETNET meeting „in between“should be continued. The Board will organize either for Berlin or another place! Convenor has to clarify and invite in 2009 for this event app around the End of January 2010.
5. The events „panel session“ and „social event“ were well organized and found high interest. Special thanks to Lorenz Lasnigg the this year programme chair. Lorenz and Convenor cooperated well and it helped to make Vienna a strong event under the manifold VETNET meetings!
6. Which and how many streams should be offered in the future? Maybe a system from macro to micro would be useful, if necessary with 7 streams.
Report about 2009 Vienna Conference by Ludger Deitmer,CONVENOR of VETNET, Head of the VETNET Board
140 Papers were presented at ECER 2009, within the VETNET network. The evaluation and selection (double blind review) was – as in the years before – performed by volunteers. A significant increase was recorded in the amount of research workshops and symposiums. 80% of the sessions are paper sessions. The quantity is all right. The quality can in parts still be improved.
